Our Team. 

Our current staff is small as we begin our restoration journey here at Sweet Springs, but we expect it to grow exponentially as we progress! Keep watch as we add key personnel and highlight various volunteers.

Ashby Berkley
Restoration - Project
Manager

Ashby has directed major restorations of the Pence Springs Hotel & Mineral Springs Historic District and the Jamestown period Riverside Inn in addition to numerous commercial and private properties and residences. He is an Executive Chef, a hospitality consultant, and a marketing & training specialist  for the State and Federal Govt.  Ashby is on the Bd. of Directors of the W.V. Hospitality & Travel Assn., Past President of the Food Service Division, Past President & Founder of Southern WV Convention & Visitors Bureau, won a WV Tourism Person of the Year Award, and is on the Historic Landmarks Commission. Ashby's speciality is historic commercial properties.

Mark B. Carroll, Esq.
President

Mark, a practicing attorney for 26 years, licensed in WV & Fl., was lucky enough to buy one of the oldest homes in Summers County, WV.  He then met friends Ashby & Arietta.  After being introduced to the history and adventure of Sweet Springs & the restoration reawakening into a center of cultural life & natural resource for Monroe Co. & all of WV.

Kellis D. Miller
Vice President

Kellis, another WV native has always held an interest in history, especially local and veterans.  Kellis, a former cook, left WV and moved to California for a few years, but home kept calling him back.  After returning, he obtained his CDL license and drove "Haz Mat" material trucks.  He then worked in management for R.T. Rogers.  Kellis now works for Sheets, and gives all the time possible as a volunteer here at Sweet Springs.

Cindie Harper
Director of  Historical Research/Media Coordinator

Cindie Harper is the Chief Executive Officer of Harpers Global LLC and has over twelve years of experience working within Ambulatory Operations at WVUMedicine. Cindie is currently the Chapter Registrar for the WV Woodburn Chapter of the NSDAR and the NSDAR WV State Chairman of the Patriot Records Project. Cindie has more than twenty five years of experience within the historical research field and has organized events and media campaigns for philanthropic organizations in Virginia, Hawaii and West Virginia for more than twenty years. She earned a bachelor and master of social work from West Virginia University. 

Arietta A. DuPre

Admin Assistant

Marketing/Activities

Arietta, a Native West Virginian, has worked in Public Relations for 30 years.  She has supervised imports, served as Director of SCCVB, Worked various jobs in the Mental Health Field,  served as Marketing/Activities... Food & Beverage Director.... and  Assistant Manager at other Historical Sites.   She is a former Cub Scout Leader, 4-H Counselor,  local Historian  &  Local Tour Guide.  She is a Train-The-Trainer thru the WV HEAT office and Teacher of Hospitatility Training, and Christian Studies.  Arietta is the daughter of the late Rosa Lee Berkley Miller - Ashby's sister and business partner.

Cynthia L. Tilley
Secretary/Treasurer

Cindy is an art and music teacher of 23 years in Mercer County, WV. She is an accomplished vocalist/entertainer & she serves the local community as a 4-H leader/sponsor, local art and music performance director, and provider of private art and music lessons.

Randall DuPre - Maintenance Supervisor 

Randy is a "Jack of all Trades" master of a few.  He is a specialist running heavy equipment, a farmer, a diesel mechanic, welder, and carpenter.  He has several years experience restoring woodwork and brick.  

Randy held a water treatment license, inspection license, and more.  He loves bringing old wood back to life.
